Over 500 coal miners from American Energy Corporation’s Beallsville, Ohio mine operations gathered together to show their united support for their jobs at the Century Mine. The miners press conference was rebuffing president Obama’s ads purporting that the miners were against presidential candidate Romney. Here is their letter to the President.
Dear President Obama:.
We are writing as the employees of American Energy Century Mine in Beallsville, Ohio. You have approved in a running television campaign ads about the Mitt Romney event that was held at our Century coal mine. These ads state that we were forced to attend this rally and that is blatantly false. There are numerous false statements and absolute lies concerning our participation in this event, we, the employees, mostly started by a local shock jock host. Since your approval is attached to these ads, you may not wish to support these mistruths. Why would you lie about the 500 working miners who have signed this letter? We, the employees of Century Mine, would request you immediately stop these false ads. Thank you. Century Mine employees.
What we here at the Ohio Free Press found interesting is that the majority of media outlets have not covered this story or the “War on Coal” that is going on in Ohio and elsewhere. Much of the media says there is no “war on coal” and that this doesn’t warrant any news coverage. Amazingly, these same media reporting centers also seemed to have ignored the then presidential candidate Obama when he specifically started his “war on the coal industry”. For those who still don’t believe that there is an agenda against free market enterprise and allowing technologies to compete such as wind, solar, and nuclear, and coal all we have to do is look at the statements and agenda’s of president Obama’s administration.
Why would a sitting President want to destroy the foundation of inexpensive energy that has help build this country into the powerhouse of innovation and world leadership that it has become over the past 200 years?
“As many as one-sixth of U.S. coal-fired power plants would close within eight years and be replaced by natural gas, according to an Energy Department estimate” reported a Huffington Post article. Unfortunately the EPA seems to be on an agenda, propagated by the current administration.
And if the administration succeeds in continuing to shut dow additional coal fired power plants in and around Ohio, what do you think that is going to mean to your electric bills and the current jobs that these coal mines are providing?
